Lamine Yamal formed a fine partnership with Nico Williams as Spain won Euro 2024 and Lothar Matthäus hopes the pair can play together at Hansi Flick’s Barcelona.

German legend Lothar Matthäus has revealed he would like to see Spain forward Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams play together at Hansi Flick’s Barcelona after the pair shone in Spain’s Euro 2024 triumph, he told Ufabet on Wednesday.

Matthäus admits both Yamal and Nico surprised and impressed at the European Championship in Germany and he would like to see the pair play together in Flick’s side amid reports Barcelona are planning to pay the player’s €60m release clause to bring him in from Athletic Bilbao this summer.

‘I would like my friend Hansi Flick to be able to bring not only Yamal to Barca this season, but also Williams, his dream player, for just €60m, the release clause,’ Matheus said.

Yamal and Nico showed excellent chemistry throughout Euro 2024 and combined in wonder in the 2-1 final win over England, ยูฟ่าเบท with Matthäus valuing the 22-year-old forward at more than €100m.

Matheus was once impressed by Germany’s midfield duo of Jamal Musiala and Florian Wertz, known as ‘Vusiala’, but now he sees the pairing of Jamal and Nico as superior.

‘After the 5-1 win over Scotland I said that our magic duo, the Vuceala, were unique. It is now clear that Spain have a better duo. Both have benefited from the good performances of the team and Luis de la Fuente has given them a lot of confidence.’
