After long waiting, Juventus have finally unveiled Teun Koepmeiners as their new player after moving from Atalanta for a total fee of €60.7 million.
The Turin giants had been interested in Koepmeiners since the end of last season, but negotiations with Atalanta took quite some time.
In the final week of the transfer window, the Bianconeri reached an agreement, willing to pay €51.3 million over four years, plus a further €3.4 million in additional costs, plus €6 million in add-ons.
Koepmeiners travelled for a medical before putting pen to paper on a contract until 2029, taking the number 8 shirt for Juventus.
The 26-year-old began his professional career with hometown club AZ ยูฟ่าเบท and impressed in the 2020/21 season, scoring 15 goals in 32 appearances and winning the Dutch league player of the year award.
His form caught the attention of Atalanta, who signed him for around €12 million.
Since then he has been a regular for Atalanta, playing a total of 129 matches, scoring 29 goals and providing 15 assists.
Since arriving in Serie A, Koopmeiners has been one of the league’s most prolific midfielders, scoring 26 times, with nine of those goals coming from outside the box during the 2021-22 season.
Juve have already made a number of moves in this summer window, bringing in Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa, Francisco Conceicao from Porto and Nicolas Gonzalez from Fiorentina.
However, last season, Kopmeiners was at his best, scoring 15 goals and providing seven assists in 51 matches, helping the team win the Europa League.
